On Thursday, Mar 14, I went to the Movie Night celebrating Pi Day!

(totally didn’t look this up)

There was a ton of pie and pizza, I got a chocolate pie and pepperoni pizza, both were delicious. The pie and pizza went out fast, so towards the middle of the movie, they started popping popcorn in the popcorn machine.

I went with two of my friends and overall, we had fun watching the movie.

They were streaming Baywatch starring Dwayne Johnson, ‘The Rock,’ and Zac Efron as the two main characters. If I were to explain the movie In a couple words I’d say; it’s about a weird lifeguard team protecting the bay, hence the movie name “Baywatch,” Zac Efron’s character is hired as one of the lifeguards and as he gets situated in his new position a criminally intent villain threatens the safety of the bay.

The genre was comedy and action with a bit of mystery. Overall, the movie wasn’t too terrible, but I was left disappointed since movies with The Rock and Zac Effron (separately) are usually superb, and significantly better than this one. This movie requires you to have a liking for certain types of humor. Personally, I didn’t like all the humor involved and some of it felt too dumb to be funny. The plot line was basic, and not too complicated. There were a lot of things in the movie that felt unnecessary and unimportant. I did like some of the unique scenarios the characters got into. For example, they were in a morgue to further examine a dead body and the bad guys were on to them so, they had to hide in the shelving units where the dead bodies are stored.

My final review is that the food was amazing, but the movie was subpar. I would have liked to have a movie that was somewhat related to Pi Day or Math in some way, or just a better comedy/action movie. Other than that, my experience at this event was great and I would love to participate again. To my knowledge, CAB is planning to have seven more movie nights for this quarter, but in the meantime there is another event for Laser Tag!

Laser Tag is from 2pm to 4pm on Monday the 29th! There is transportation provided and it is free but space is limited! If you are interested or have any questions please go to the Office of Student Life on the second floor of Building 27.
