The services featured may not be surprising, but there are some details you might not have known about them, some of which I\u2019ll be sharing with you here.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Advising, Career, & Transfer Center<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Advising, Career, & Transfer (ACT) Center can help you with just that: advising, careers, and transferring. Most advising services are only provided through appointment, such as, but not limited to:\u00a0<br>Comparing different degrees<br>Creating a degree plan<br>Beginning transfer planning<br>Receiving an unofficial review of transcripts.\u00a0<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Career & Job Support<\/td><td>Career and Job Support advisors can help you with:<br>Learning more about your interests, skills, and goals<br>Discovering the career options best suited to you and your interests<br>Deciding on a major based on your career choice<br>Reviewing resumes and cover letters<br>Learning about job interviewing techniques<br>Researching career fields and job outlooks<br>Looking into opportunities for working on campus<br>Helping students find local job opportunities during or after their time at SPSCC<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>University Transfer Planning<\/td><td>University transfer planning is pretty straight-forward. Transfer planning can help you with:<br>Making sure your degree will be complete on time and fulfill the requirements of whatever university you\u2019re going to<br>Finding the information necessary to transfer to your chosen university<br>Applying to a four-year university<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>How to Make An Appointment<\/td><td>The easiest way to make an appointment for any of these services is to use Compass, which you can find under \u201cmySPSCC\u201d on the <a href=\"https:\/\/spscc.edu\/\">SPSCC website<\/a>. You can select which of your assigned advisors you would like to meet with, what you\u2019d like to meet about, and which of the available times you\u2019d like to meet for.\u00a0<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">More information on the ACT center can be found <a href=\"https:\/\/spscc.edu\/act-center\">here<\/a>.\u00a0<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Security<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you\u2019ve done any classes on campus, there\u2019s a pretty good chance you\u2019ve seen a security vehicle making their rounds and patrolling campus. You also might know about the Emergency and Weather Alerts, which are currently powered by Rave, or have gotten emails about all the catalytic converters that keep getting stolen from people\u2019s cars in the parking lots. However, there\u2019s also a pretty good chance that you don\u2019t know what other things the security team can help with. The security team encourages students and faculty to report things such as suspected crimes, harassment, sexual harassment, and discrimination, academic integrity, and even strange or uncharacteristic behavior of students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\"><table><tbody><tr><td>Location<\/td><td>Building 25, Room 117<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Hours<\/td><td>24\/7 Availability<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Contact<\/td><td>(360) 596-5299<br>security@spscc.edu<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Services<\/td><td>Emergency Support: Call the security number to report any ongoing or immediate aftermath of crimes, suspected crimes, or otherwise suspicious circumstances or people.<br><br>Non-Emergency Forms:<br> For security or safety concerns that are not urgent, there are a variety of forms that can be used to report an incident or suspected incident. For non-emergency reports, the reporter\u2019s information may be requested. Although this is not required, it is recommended. Security will only use this to get in contact with the reporter for a follow-up if necessary, and will not disclose the reporter to any person(s) who may have been reported, although there is not a 100% guarantee of confidentiality for other parties.\u00a0<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Non-Emergency Reports<\/td><td>BIT Report<br>Academic Integrity Report<br>Bias Incident Report<br>Harassment, Sexual Harassment, or Discrimination Report<br>Incident Report<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>BIT Report<\/td><td>If a student is acting noticeably different or unusually, the Behavioral Intervention Team exists to keep track of and come up with intervention plans to assist students before a crisis can occur. This doesn\u2019t have to be suspicions of the student in question becoming violent, but could also be unusual behavior potentially attributed to abuse, change in housing or work situation, or other events or circumstances that could hinder a student in their efforts to succeed at SPSCC. More information can be found on the BIT report form, <a href=\"https:\/\/cm.maxient.com\/reportingform.php?SouthPugetSoundCC=&layout_id=1\">here<\/a>.<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Academic Integrity Report<\/td><td>Academic integrity is a big deal at any college, but SPSCC puts a particular emphasis on it. If you are an instructor, you can submit a report over a student\u2019s violation of academic integrity. It is recommended you consult\u00a0 your Dean before making the report. The Code of Student Rights and Responsibilities can be found <a href=\"https:\/\/spscc.edu\/sites\/default\/files\/2023-08\/Code_of_Student_rights.pdf?_gl=1*f4b5q7*_gcl_au*MjA1MTE3MzAyMy4xNjkyMjUwMjI2\">here<\/a> and the Academic Integrity Report form can be found <a href=\"https:\/\/cm.maxient.com\/reportingform.php?SouthPugetSoundCC&layout_id=3\">here<\/a>.<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Bias Incident Reporting and Harassment, Sexual Harassment, or Discrimination Reporting<\/td><td>There isn\u2019t a large difference between the Bias Incident Report and Harassment, Sexual Harassment, or Discrimination Report. Both aim to protect diversity on the campus and prevent hateful actions from spreading, as well as appropriately dealing with harmful events that have already happened. When filing a report on these matters, I encourage you to look at the forms and what information they inquire about to decide which one you should use. The Bias Incident Report is <a href=\"https:\/\/cm.maxient.com\/reportingform.php?SouthPugetSoundCC&layout_id=2\">here<\/a> and the Harassment, Sexual Harassment, or Discrimination Report is <a href=\"https:\/\/cm.maxient.com\/reportingform.php?SouthPugetSoundCC&layout_id=5\">here<\/a>.\u00a0<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Non-Emergency Incident Report<\/td><td>This is perhaps the most simple report on this list. If you witness the aftermath of a crime or suspected crime (such as finding out that your car\u2019s catalytic converter has been stolen\u2026), you can report it here for security to address once convenient. Any other incidents you think might be relevant to the security team but are not in immediate need of attention can be reported through this form as well.
