John Sohn is the Vice President of Clubs and Organizations. He is from an island in the pacific called Saipan which is the largest island of the Northern Mariana Islands. To put the island’s size into perspective, it takes about twenty minutes to go from the top to the bottom of the island.

John is currently pursuing the Business Pathway but through Associate of Arts so he can take more math classes, ultimately, he wants to pursue a career in private equity to help other businesses grow. He also has a passion for writing and his studiousness has kept him in a 4.0 GPA standing throughout his entire time at SPSCC.

Originally wanting to get involved at SPSCC in any capacity he ended up getting interviewed for his current position and got a lot more than he bargained for. According to him it was life changing and it forced him to come out of his shell. It taught him how to take the initiative when interacting with others.

His duties on the job require working at the Coffee Shop, the Food Pantry, and working to set up the quarterly club fairs but, his favorite part is doing club round tables, and interacting with the different clubs on campus, as well as helping clubs get started. He loves being able to work with such passionate people every day.

He hopes to be an inspiration to students on campus and be the person people can come to with questions and ask for help. “There are hidden gems everywhere, I wanna be ‘that guy’ that picks out the hidden gems, and I wanna help them,” John said.

John uses the words humble, perceptive and intelligent to describe himself. He is an interesting speaker, who is extremely dedicated to his goals.

John will be reapplying to the Student Senate for next year and encourages anyone interested to apply as being involved in student life is extremely important.
