Welcome back to the third installment of Campus Resources! Today we’re going over some of the more uncommonly known resources at SPSCC. These are things you might have heard of, but may not know the specifics of.

Financial Services

Financial services are difficult to find information on, but they can help you find resources on how to properly finance and budget,  apply for work study and scholarships, and figure out how to afford college.

Food Pantry

South Puget Sound Community College is also a satellite location of the Thurston County Food Bank, under the direction of Student Life. This means that anyone in need, even those not affiliated with the school, can come to SPSCC’s food bank to pick up non-perishable food items and hygiene products, children’s books, and warm clothing items. The food pantry can also direct people to other resources that can provide assistance based on their needs, or food bank locations that are open at different times.

How to AccessTo access the resources available at the food pantry, one must check-in. A name must be provided, although an alternate name can be used to provide anonymity. The name is used to keep track of how many visits are being made, so it must stay consistent, however. Students may be asked to show their IDs so SPSCC can know how many students are being served through the food pantry.
More information on the food pantry, as well as how to donate to the food bank, can be found here

Health & Wellness Center

The Health and Wellness Center is relatively unknown, which is a shame because of the unique resources provided to all SPSCC students. Beyond the newly upgraded gyms, the Health and Wellness Center has showers, gender inclusive bathrooms, and even a lactation room. The Health and Wellness Center is free and accessible for anyone with an SPSCC ID.
